Aaron Johnson, Shareholder, Lane Powell PC

Aaron Johnson is a Shareholder at Lane Powell in the Seattle office. He represents multinational, U.S., and regional businesses in SALT matters including tax litigation, audit defense, appeals, planning and structuring tax efficient transactions. When he is not serving taxpayers, he is serving his community. He is the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) Tax Section's SALT Committee Chair, on the Tax Section's Legislative and DEI committees, on the ABA Tax Section SALT Executive Committee. Additionally, he teaches federal tax and tax research and writing at the UW School of Law, having previously taught corporate tax at UW Foster School of Business and federal tax at Seattle Pacific University (awarded professor of the year). He is also an appointed member of the Washington Department of Revenue's Business Advisory Council and an advisory member to the Association of Washington Businesses (AWB). Before joining Lane Powell, Aaron managed PwC's Pacific Northwest tax practice. Earlier in his career he was a Judicial Law Clerk, Stockbroker and Financial Advisor, and enlisted U.S. Army Soldier. He received his LL.M. and B.A. from the University of Washington, and his J.D. from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College.

Kathryn Maxson-Landis, Tax Director - Cannabis Division, Citrin Cooperman LLC

Katye Maxson-Landis received her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential in 2011, after working in public accounting for seven years as an auditor and staff accountant. Prior to that, she worked as a bookkeeper and business administrator for 13 years. Katye's greatest strengths are her experience and perspective; she can relate not only to her clients' managerial challenges, but also to those of their staff on the front lines and back rooms of retail and bookkeeping. A champion of fiscal literacy and best practices for the cannabis industry, she brings more than 20 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and administrative solutions for small businesses with a variety of structures.

As the Lead Educator for The Moxy Accountant, she has led workshops hosted by the National Accounting and Finance Show, AICPA,  Oregon and Washington Society of CPAs, and the Western CPE in Montana. She is a frequent speaker for the AICPA and the co-chair of the Cannabis Conference. Katye's clients and colleagues appreciate her blend of humorous irreverence, professional inquisitiveness, and intellectual skepticism for just about everything. Both inside and outside of the office, Katye is a co-parent, spouse, educator, mentor, ally, advisor, and friend.

Malea Hunt, Client Accounting Mgr - Winery Group, Perkins & Co

Malea Hunt is a manager in the Client Accounting Services department at Perkins & Co, bringing over nine years of accounting experience to her role.  Her journey began amidst the vibrant blooms of her family's flower nursery in Oregon, where she was born and raised. Continuing the legacy of her mother and grandfather, Malea is a proud third-generation CPA and alumni of Portland State University.

After earning her degree in accounting, Malea began her career as an auditor in public accounting. However, her path took an exciting turn when she transitioned to working for a start-up in the seafood industry. There, she honed her financial analysis and cost accounting skills, gaining valuable insights into business operations. As much as she liked seafood, Malea's true passion emerged when she joined a sizeable Oregon-based winery. As their in-house accounting manager, she delved into the intricacies of winery accounting—from vine to bottle and beyond.

Since 2021, Malea has been an integral part of Perkins' Client Accounting Services department, where she works closely with wineries in the Pacific Northwest, ensuring thorough bookkeeping and providing valuable insights into inventory cost analysis. With her profound expertise in accounting and deep roots in one of the Pacific Northwest's primary industries, Malea is a pivotal figure in guiding local wineries through their financial landscapes, ensuring their legacy and the region's prosperity for years to come.

Marissa Testori, Audit Senior Manager, Perkins & Co

Marissa Testori is an Audit senior manager at Perkins & Co with over twelve years of accounting and audit experience, serving clients in a variety of industries. She is responsible for audit and review engagements and has valuable experience with designing and performing audit procedures, supervising staff, and financial statement preparation. Additionally, she has performed consulting and other client service work, including assisting with accounting standard adoption/compliance, and performing risk and internal control assessments to provide feedback and recommendations to clients.

Marissa specializes in working with clients in the food and beverage and manufacturing and distribution industries, where her passion and technical experience in inventory and equity accounting allows her to advise companies and meet their expanding needs as they progress and grow through different stages in the business lifecycle.

Marissa graduated from Arizona State University with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting. She is affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ronald Seigneur, Partner, Seigneur Gustafson LLP

Ron Seigneur is Managing Partner of Seigneur Gustafson LLP in Colorado. He has over 30 years of valuation experience and has been endorsed as an expert witness in several jurisdictions and has served in appointments such as trustee, mediator, arbitrator and special master of the court. Ron is very active nationally as an educator and author of valuation science and has written and taught advanced level valuation courses in several states for the AICPA, NACVA, state bar associations and the Environmental Protection Agency. He is past chair of the AICPA Accredited in Business Valuation committee and NACVA's Professional Standards Board. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Daniels College of Business where he teaches Valuing a Business. Ron is an author and lead instructor of the Association of Legal Administrator's national Law Firm Management Essentials training program. Ron holds a BA in Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management from Michigan State University and an MBA in Accounting and Corporate Policy from the University of Michigan. He is co-author of the 1300+ page treatise on business appraisal titled Financial Valuations: Applications and Models; Reasonable Compensation; Application and Analysis for Appraisal, Tax and Management; The Cannabis Industry Accounting and Appraisal Guide; and the soon to be released, Financial Expert Guide for Family Law Judges and Attorneys. Ron also continues to focus attention to tax planning and compliance matters, as well as emphasizing succession and exit planning strategies for Seigneur Gustafson clients and their professional advisors. Ron has co-authored 3 books, including The Cannabis Industry Accounting and Appraisal Guide. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver and a speaker on professional practice issues.
