Robert Black, Senior Vice President, Multifamily, Northmarq 4949 Meadows Rd. Suite 490
Robert J. Black joined Newmark as Senior Managing Director in 2015 where he focuses on multifamily brokerage services and client development in the Portland Metro area. In his former role as Senior Vice President at NAI Norris, Beggs and Simpson in Portland, Mr. Black gained over 16 years of experience in the commercial real estate market, specializing in land, apartment, and affordable housing investment sales. He garnered a number of market awards, including the Commercial Association of Brokers Bill Naito Award in 2008 for his part in the sale of the $292 million Brewery Block property and runner-up in 2009 for the same award for his part in the sale of The Ardea, a $145 million apartment property located in Portland's South Waterfront. in 2013 and again in 2014 Black was runner up for Investment Broker of the Year for the Commercial Association of Brokers of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Along with his success on the apartment investment side, since 2010, Robert has been one of the most active brokers of multifamily land in the urban Portland market where his most notable transactions include the sale of Con-way properties for $6 million and the sale of the OAME Complex for $4.2 million.
Black also specializes in affordable housing and closes multiple transactions every year with a number of the region's non-profit housing developers. In 2013, he completed a $3.9 million section 8 preservation deal for Bronaugh Apartments and also closed Greenview Terrace for $1.6 million.
A CCIM candidate of the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute (CIREI), Black holds a degree in international economics and finance from the University of New Mexico. He has many professional and civic affiliations, including the Metro Multifamily Housing Association. Prior to his career in real estate, Black was a forerunner in the men's downhill during the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada, and was a member of the UNM NCAA Ski Team in 1990-92.
Black is a licensed real estate broker in Oregon.

Steve Scranton, Chief Investment Officer & Economist, Washington Trust Bank
Steve Scranton is the Chief Investment Officer & Economist for Washington Trust Bank and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation with over 35 years of investment and economic experience.
As Washington Trust Bank’s Chief Investment Officer, Steve is responsible for management of the Portfolio Management Group and actively participates on committees within the bank to help design strategies and policies related to investments. As the economist for Washington Trust Bank, Steve participates in public speaking engagements, as well as authoring multiple communications, to keep clients and the public informed of economic and investment market conditions. Throughout the Pacific Northwest, Steve is a well-known speaker on the economic conditions and the world financial markets.

Trent Baeckl, Shareholder, Perkins & Co
Trent Baeckl is a shareholder at Perkins & Co. Since joining the firm in 2007, he has primarily specialized within the firm’s real estate practice group. Trent’s professional background in public accounting includes experience in tax for a variety of clients and entities focusing on pass-through taxation compliance and planning for pass-through entities and corporations. He serves a wide range of real estate clients including investment funds, real estate developers, construction companies, architects and single family home builders. In addition to his work in the real estate industry, Trent serves professional and creative service firms, manufacturing and distribution companies, and retail businesses. He also works with the owners of these closely held businesses to ensure that planning is comprehensive in nature. Trent holds a Bachelor of Science of General Studies from the University of Michigan and a Master of Accounting degree from Washington State University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Oregon Society of CPAs, where he has served on the real estate education committee, and currently he serves on the board of St. Andrews Legal Clinic and Portland Alternative Investment Association.
