Tiffany Nash
Kernutt Stokes, Eugene
OSCPA Board of Directors

What made you want to serve on the Board?
I have been involved with board service for the OSCPA for a very long time. I started on the Emerald Empire Chapter Council early in my career and found it very rewarding. I especially enjoyed the many years that I spent helping organize the OSCPA/University of Oregon student dinner and the value it brought to not only the students but the CPAs as well. When I got the opportunity to serve on the Society Board of Directors, I was very excited to be able to serve on a larger scale and provide value to the profession.

What is the most important message OSCPA leaders can share with aspiring CPAs?
There is a tremendous amount of opportunity with the CPA credential. Don’t be afraid to be in the driver's seat, explore career paths, and find one that you really enjoy and works well with your lifestyle. You will be able to continue to shape your career as you go along, and it is very rewarding to enjoy what you do for a living.

What was your first job and what did you learn from it?
My parents owned a bakery, and I worked there as a young teen. On weekends I would go there with them, and I did everything from serving customers and ringing up sales to baking cookies and washing dishes. My dad also taught me to reconcile the daily sales with the cash and checks in the register at the end of the day and prepare the bank deposit – that started my love of accounting.

What would you consider a perfect day?
There are many versions of what a perfect day could look like, but they all include time with family and friends and doing something outdoors. Perhaps something simple such as a relaxing family BBQ on the back deck while the grandkids and dogs play in the yard and the horses graze in the pasture and the deer make their daily crossing through the back of our field.
