Scholarship Spotlight: Ryan Glasheen

Who or what inspired you to get where you are today?
Growing up, I didn’t know any professionals in high-level careers—no lawyers, bankers, or engineers. But what I did have was the unwavering support of my parents, who sacrificed selflessly so I could pursue opportunities they never had. Their belief in me motivates my desire to build a career that not only supports my own family’s future but also strengthens the financial well-being of my community. It’s this foundation of love and sacrifice that drives me to be someone my family and friends can be proud of.

How will you define success as a CPA?
For me, success will always be rooted in the trust I earn from clients and colleagues. It’s not about accolades, but about being the person others rely on for sound financial guidance and innovative solutions. Helping them navigate complex tax and investment decisions while securing their financial stability—that’s the kind of impact I aspire to make. Success is building a relationship where people know they’re in good hands.

Tell us how you achieved one of your most recent professional goals.
One of my recent goals was to improve my ability to translate complex data insights into clear, impactful presentations. Over the last year, I dedicated several hours each week to honing my public speaking and PowerPoint development skills. By focusing on making my presentations visually engaging and easy to understand, I’ve been able to deliver successful, well-received presentations to diverse audiences—earning positive feedback from peers, professors, and industry professionals alike.

What are you most passionate about?
What excites me most is the opportunity to create meaningful change in the lives of others. Through accounting and tax services, I’m given a unique window into the financial health of businesses and individuals. It’s incredibly fulfilling to use that perspective to help them not only survive but thrive, ensuring their long-term success and financial security. Being part of that journey is what drives my passion.
