Member Spotlight: Kajsa Merz

,Who or what inspired you to get where you are today?
Both my parents are huge inspirations to me and are a big part of why I am where I am today. They are extremely hard workers and have always taught me that with hard work, determination, and perseverance I can get anywhere and do anything I set my mind to. I look up to them a lot.

How will you define success as a CPA?
I will define success as a CPA as being in a position that allows me to help other people and do my job to the best of my ability, that brings me joy, and that I am surrounded by people that I like and work well with.

Tell us how you achieved one of your most recent professional goals.
I completed a tax internship this past winter and was asked to return next season. This internship was a big accomplishment for me because I never expected to have an internship directly related with my future profession as a sophomore. I was determined to learn as much as I could and I loved being immersed in the day-to-day that I may be living in the near future.

What are you most passionate about?
I'm extremely passionate about travel. I love to see new places, cultures, and histories. I think traveling to places where you don't speak the language teaches you so much about yourself. I think it's very important to expand your horizons and surround yourself with things you don't know and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
